Durmstrang is located in a small mountain range. While the school itself is not the largest it's grounds, and protective charms, stretch to the foothills of the mountains on either side and miles in all directions. This bodes well as many students enjoy flying thier brooms around the grounds to hide or find things.

Sub-board: The Greenhouse

This lake is almost directly outside the castle. The castle is perched on a small cliff just above it, and it is a lovely place. The lake is very long and is said to be the home to the Russian version of the Lock Ness monster. At the begining and end of the year the water is always warm and is often used for swiming, or diving from the outer walls of the castle.

The Area around the castle that hasn't quite reached the mountains but isn't the edge of the cliff. Although rather small as compared to other school's lawns the fields serve their purpouse. For those wishing a proper duel it can be held here, as is the Magical and Semi-Magical Creatures Care class. Tred carefully, the tall grass can hind any number of things.

Sub-board: The Owlery

This is the stadium for playing quiditch where the various teams play one another. While most teams are made of students from every dorm the Green Horntails are made up soley of Dragon dorm members, much like the Fighting Gryphons are only from Gryphon dorm. There are always a numbe of teams formed at the begining of the year, each independent of the dorms. Thier supplies are kept within here as well.

A twisted maze of old halls used to torture and hold prisoners, this area of the lowest levels is generally used for storage, the caretaker lives in this are however and it is said he'll use the aging instruments on anyone that crosses his path. Watch yourself when you use these halls, there's no telling what's been hidden here over the years to keep it from prying eyes.

A very small classroom sits just to the die of the main doors, almost hidden by them when they're open. The classroom holds only a desk for the teacher as he class is held outside almost every day, all year round.

A large hall with five long tables in it. The students are allowed to sit where ever they like and with whomever they like, although on some days the split between the dorms is very strict. There are tapestries and coats of arms not only for the dorms but also for the older families and even some of the headmasters families. There is however one coat of arms that ahs been removed, under the darker patch of stone where it once hung is a scratched off name tag, what is left reads 'Gr--denw'. A smaller table at the head of the room seats the professors and staff of the school. The caretaker's seat is always empty however.

To transfigure something is a usefull if not life saving talent. The school emphasises this and charms nearly as much as the Dark Arts. Students are required to take the class, even if they don't want to.

The Kitchens, placed directly above the dinning hall, are filled with house elves along with several human overseers. They say other schools have similar kitchens and are sure theres are teh best but there is nothing like good home made meals. Directly above the dinning hall there are an identical number of tables arranged in the kitchen with place settings and food servers for every table. If you're looking for something to snack on at night be sure you come after ten or else you'll be seen by the overseers.

This hallway is generally forbiden. Students are encouraged but not forced to follow the alternate routs to thier classes and dorms. The torches here have all been removed. If you enter here do not be shocked by anything you find looking back at you from the wall.

The class dedicated to the study of the dark arts and how to use them. the schools looks at it as 'the best defense....' but there are those that aren't looking for a way to defend against it but rahter to defend themselves with it. Are you one of them perhapse?

The oldest and most mysterious writtings and readins of the wizarding world are kept and taught here. Many find the information usefull in the selling and buying of older items as they can determine if something is a fake or whether it's real by it's markings. May ahve even managed to decypher spelld and potions from texts they study here.

This part of the floor has been converted from classrooms and study rooms to a large hospital area complete with a magical nursing staff. Three older woman in ancient looking nurses outfits patrol the area and take care of those that have fallen ill.

THIS DORM IS FOR VAMPIERIC STUDENTS ONLY. No human students are allowed in. While this dorm exists it is generally ignored in information about the school as only the vampieric children will reside here and only they will be out at night to take classes. Many think it unsafe to have vampieric students in the same school as normal students, but magical children, bitten or otherwise, have the right to attend. Only muggle borns are banned from the school.

**Any human student caught entering will be severaly punished.

This class, although generally well thought of is rather boring. Dealing with the mythology of the contries from which most students hail the focus is teaching students what is real and what is myth about the magical and non-magical world around them. While many people think magic can do anything even spells can't always solve all your problems.

A small room with tables and chairs and benches designated for studying. While torches burn here all teh time there is almost never a fire unless someone dares to try and light one without getting noticed by whatever teacher happens to be watching the area at teh time. Many peopel use this area as a quiet place to talk when curfew hits and the teachers are all in bed.

This large and almost maze-like room is filled to the brim with books about anything and everything. Things from dark magic to drink making can be found in this room if you only know where to look. If you can't find it the librarian might help if you don't agrivate her too much.
